This Copalita Iguana Cooperative is a community run project that was founded nine years ago. It’s main objective is to promote awareness and protect these special animals that are endangered.

The Copalita river is of great importance to the community as it is a major water source for the village. The point where the river meets the ocean is one of the most biodiverse places in the Huatulco area.
